How to pair Christmas or Hanukkah Dinner with Liquid Riot beers

11 Dec 2016 How to pair Christmas or Hanukkah Dinner with Liquid Riot beers

We love our holiday dinners and with Christmaskah upon us, we asked Liquid Riot brewers: Russ, Terry and Greg, to pair beers with favorite holiday meals. Here’s what they had to say:

Sour Trouble and bourbon glazed ham
The tart, puckering sour brown ale will perfectly contrast the sweet, salty ham, and the strong body of this beer won’t leave your palette too dry.
(Bourbon Glazed Ham

Bourbon barrel aged Straight to Blackout and pecan pie
The rich, dry chocolate, oak, and strong bourbon flavors of this Imperial Stout will support the sweet, nutty deliciousness of pecan pie.

Lagerbier and spinach salad with pomegranate vinaigrette
The clean, subtle hoppiness of this classic beer will boost the flavor of the pomegranate vinaigrette, and the smooth doughy maltiness will support the earthy spinach flavor.
(Alternate: roasted vegetables with pomegranate vinaigrette)

Rauchbier and braised brisket
Our German-style smoked lager’s notes of campfire and bbq will bring out all the best flavors of this low-and-slow cooked, sweet-and-spicy meat.

Special Ale and stuffed turkey breast or goose breast
Our UK-style winter ale is malty and nutty and has notes of toffee and caramel. This rich and complex beer will perfectly complement the gaminess of the bird (and pair nicely with sweet potatoes, stuffing and cranberry sauce).

… and for the post-meal food coma … Fernet Michaud
What better way to help you through your excessive indulgence than our dry, herbal elixir?!

32 oz Crowlers (can+growler) and 12 and 16 ounce cans and the full lineup of spirits are available at our Commercial Street brewery/distillery, as well as Maine Liquor Agency Stores and finer beer sellers.
