Liquid Riot Makes the Best Chicken Sandwich in America

08 Jun 2016 Liquid Riot Makes the Best Chicken Sandwich in America

We’re excited to report that Liquid Riot’s Resto-Bar Kitchen, under the direction of Chef Nick Krunkkala, has earned the top honor in the Restaurant Hospitality Magazine 2016 Best Sandwich in America Contest. We won the chicken sandwich category. There’s really nothing other to say than WOW! We knew these sliders were good. We didn’t know they were impressive to the point that they would rate ahead of Shake Shack, Red Star Sandwich Shop and Jacob’s Pickles. These are some of our heroes, for goodness sake.

Needless to say, this is a great win for Liquid Riot and another nice feather in the cap for Portland, Maine’s restaurant, brewing and distilling communities. We’re proud to be part of this talented culinary city and state.

NOTE: The Crispy Chicken Skin Sliders topped with Sour Trouble Brown Ale jam will be returning to the menu starting this weekend (June 10). Come in, raise a glass to all those who came before us and rioted for their beverages of choice, and order the chicken skin sliders.

Cheers!

Winner: Chicken Skin Sliders
Sandwich Creator: Chef Nick Krunkkala
Inspiration: To create something that was inexpensive and packed with a ton of flavor.”
What the Judges Said: Why more chefs don’t utilize chicken skin the way Krunkkala does here is beyond us. What a crazy-cool idea. To offset the richness of the fried skins, he reduces fresh oranges in their own juices and a splash of slightly sour beer. The result is a not-to-sweet marmalade that provides a perfect counterpoint to the powerfully flavored skins. Yum!
