04 May 2017 Fernet Michaud Shines for Cinco de Mayo and Derby Saturday
Our celebration of Fernet Michaud winning double gold and best of category at the 2017 American Distilling Institute‘s craft spirits competition continues in the form of two delicious cocktails, created for Cinco de Mayo and Kentucky Derby.
The Fernet-arita
Details: Combine .75 oz Liquid Riot Fernet Michaud and 1.5 oz Liquid Riot Agave Spirit with .5 oz simple syrup and 1 oz fresh lime juice (1 lime) with ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake and strain into an ice-filled rocks glass. Garnish with a lime wedge.
Super simple and the complex flavors of Fernet Michaud and Agave Spirit combine to create a margarita variation that is hard to beat.
The Fernet Julep
Details: Muddle three mint leaves and .5 oz simple syrup in rocks glass. Add 1 oz Liquid Riot Fernet Michaud and 1.5 oz Liquid Riot Old Port Bourbon and stir. Add crushed ice and stir. Top glass with more crushed ice and garnish with mint leaves.
The Fernet Michaud and Old Port Bourbon pair wonderfully. This Mint Julep variation will steal the show at your Kentucky Derby party.
