Gold Victory.

19 May 2016 Gold Victory.

You know that feeling of being completely startled by something really wonderful? It’s so good, right? It’s exactly how we felt last week in Philly at World Beer Cup. We won gold for “Blushing Star.” We never thought we’d win.  When we heard “Blushing Star gets gold” we thought someone had stolen our name. No joke. Then reality sunk in. Amazing, amazing stuff.

Blushing Star (8% abv, 500ml) is an American Pilsner barrel-aged with Brettanomyces and its namesake peach variety. We’re brewing more this year, with release plans this fall.

Afterward we learned this year’s World Beer Cup was the most competitive and most international, with 6,596 beers from 1,907 breweries representing 55 countries—a 38.5 percent increase in the number of entries.

medalsWe’ve won awards before — Old Port Rye earned silver at the 2016 Great American Spirits Festival. At the 2016 American Distilling Institute Spirits Awards, Fernet Michaud and Old Port Single Malt earned silver while Dow’s Demise Dark Rum earned bronze. And Fernet Michaud, Old Port Single Malt and Old Port Rye each earned bronze medals at the 2016 American Craft Spirits Association competition.  But the World Beer Cup is the “Olympics of Beer” and this win is really sweet.

Liquid Riot is Portland, Maine’s only award winning brewery, distillery and resto-bar. Say it with us and come drink and eat at Liquid Riot very soon.

Cheers!
