Wondering what to get dad this Father’s Day? We’ve got you covered! We have something for the beer lover in your life, the whiskey connoisseur, and everything in between in our brewery & distillery retail shop. To help inspire you we’ve asked the dads at Liquid Riot what they will be sipping this Sunday.
It’s no surprise that Ian Michaud our Head Distiller is asking for whiskey this year… “Any of our whiskeys would make a great gift for a dad who enjoys a whiskey drink. We’ve got four styles to choose from, all made with Maine produced ingredients and all a minimum of 4 years old now. Cheers to all the dads out there!” says Ian.
Liquid Riot’s Old Port Whiskey Collection
Old Port Bourbon – Recently garnered national recognition for winning a Good Food Award this year. Crafted using Maine grown corn, rye and buckwheat. Distilled in the heart of Portland’s Old Port, this small batch whiskey brings big flavor to the coast of Maine. Complex, layered spirit showcasing the full flavors of the ingredients. Sweet on the nose with earthy undertones and hints of caramel, cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg.
Old Port Oat Whiskey – An uncommon whiskey that is limited released only once a year. Made with Maine grown organic rolled oats and aged in fresh charred White American Oak barrels. Creamy mouth feel, notes of cinnamon and vanilla that blend well with the pronounced oat flavor.
Old Port Rye – Our small batch Rye is carefully distilled from a recipe utilizing Maine grown rye as well as specialty roasted brewers’ barley. Aged in small barrels by the sea in Portland’s Old Port, our Rye Whiskey drinks smooth, sweet and spicy up front with hints of chocolate and leather on the finish.
Old Port Single Malt – We make our Single Malt with an American twist; American cherry wood smoked barley. This smoky spirit is aged in small, charred American oak barrels that previously held American Bourbon. The finished product is soft and mellow with a hint of smoke.
To go with our Maine-made whiskey we have custom rocks glasses in our retail store. Any of our whiskeys would make for a yummy old fashioned, but especially our Old Port Bourbon.
On this Father’s Day Matthew Marrier, VP of Operations looks forward to spending the day with his family, barbequing, and playing yard games. Later in the evening after the sun has set he loves to snuggle around a fire with the kids while toasting marshmallows and sipping his favorite spirit we produce, Fernet Michaud. He claims it’s the natural ingredients of herbs and spices that helps settle his stomach after a long day indulging in burgers and hot dogs.
Fernet Michaud is complex, minty, bittersweet and very herbal. Made with Organic Wheat based Neutral Grain Spirit which we infuse with our proprietary blend of 22 botanicals and herbs. Once the infusion is complete, the spirit rests in used red wine and Maine blueberry barrels for 2-3 months.
“This Father’s Day I’m looking forward to spending time with the fam, playing some music, and of course, drinking a crisp Head Stash IPA! A pour of Oat Whiskey may be in the cards as well, it’s Dad’s day,” says Greg Abbot, Head Brewer.
Although all of our beers are deeply treasured and enjoyed by all our brewers, Head Stash will always have a special place in their hearts. Our Flagship IPA, which was originally a collaboration with Oxbow Brewing, has remained tried and true. Russel Hoskins our Assistant Brewer who has worked with us since the beginning says he will also be sipping Head Stash this Sunday as well.
