20 Apr 2023 Gather Together To Sip Our Dow’s Demise Rum
Located on Main Street in Yarmouth (just under a 20 minute drive from Portland) sits Gather, a charming and elevated neighborhood restaurant. You may have heard of Gather recently in the news as owner Krista Cole was just named a semifinalist for the James Beard national Outstanding Restaurateur Award. With a mission to put the spotlight on Maine ingredients at their restaurant, we are both thrilled and honored to have our Maine-made spirits sitting behind their bar.
This spring Gather is featuring our Dow’s Demise Dark Rum in their “Vacationland” tiki inspired cocktail. The Vacationland cocktail is made with our Dow’s Demise Dark Rum, Plantation Pineapple Rum, pineapple shrub, sesame orgeat, lime, and nutmeg.
Bar Manager Mickey Mills explains, “We wanted to make a tiki drink with island vibes but not be too sweet. It’s supposed to make you feel like you’re on an island, drinking a cocktail in the sun. ‘The way life should be’, as they say.”
Liquid Riot’s Dow’s Demise Dark Rum is made with a mix of Blackstrap molasses, light molasses, and cane juice. It’s then aged in used Bourbon barrels for a minimum of 18 months. You’ll find the finished product to be smooth and sweet, with hints of fruit and spice. It’s a good sipping rum or in your favorite rum based cocktail.
